The Project
Queensland Government-owned corporation, Sunwater is planning for the construction of a new dam wall immediately downstream from the existing Paradise Dam on the Burnett River.
The project is a large, multi-year project that will ensure a safe and secure water supply for the Bundaberg region for future generations.
The Technology and Digital Engineering Lead role is part of the Paradise Alliance, formed by Sunwater to deliver the Paradise Dam Improvement Project, with CPB Contractors / Georgiou appointed as major construction partner and GHD as the ongoing design partner.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project standards, methods, and procedures in accordance with ISO19650
- Manage the implementation of automated systems (robotics) to the PDIP construction methods and software integration.
- Support construction teams by setting up PowerBI reports from PIM
- Promote and develop improvements to enhance safety, reduce costs, and save time
- Emphasise production efficiency, safety, and cost reduction
- Design and develop digital subsystems and control boards to automate digital reporting processes and integrate them within various project components (e.g. batching plants, crushing plants, quarries)
- Investigate, acquire, and implement innovative solutions in the construction process to enhance safety, reduce costs, and save time using autonomous robots (for machine control and operation, both on-site and remotely)
Requirements for this role:
- Over 5 years of experience designing, developing, and implementing plant and software automation systems in infrastructure and mining, with expertise in SCADA, robotics frameworks, and programming languages (Python, C++, Java).
- Skilled in integrating automation systems, conducting routine maintenance, documenting system specs and test results, and staying current with automation technologies.
- Extensive experience managing digital engineering throughout the design and construction phases of major infrastructure projects, including strategy development for full project lifecycle digital delivery.
- Proficient in digital engineering tools and processes, including data interoperability, CAD software, and managing digital data requirements and exchange.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with proven ability to delegate, manage high workloads, and think strategically and analytically
Note this role will initially be based in our Alliance office in Brisbane but will transition to a full time, site-based basis. You must be willing to work on site either FIFO or DIDO.
