The Project
Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 140km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.
HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.
The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning 140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of the project, ensuring alignment with design, time, budget, safety, quality, environmental, commercial and stakeholder requirements.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Ensuring contractual obligations are identified and understood by all team members
- Manage construction budgets to allow cost forecasting within 5% +/- on a code-by-code basis.
- Ensure the appropriate allocation of resources to achieve the project time and quality objectives at optimal cost
- Approve construction plans and schedules, and coordinate with the Construction Director on phase completion dates
- Define and confirm the design concept in line with client expectations
- Ensure that team members have a clear understanding of their role purpose and accountabilities
- Set direction for the project in line with project and operational plans
Our minimum requirements for this role are:
- Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field
- Relevant experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of building methodologies, construction sequencing and site coordination
- Demonstrated commercial experience to include project planning through full project life cycle
- Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in project management tools and software
