About the Role
We're inviting internal applications for an exciting opportunity to take on a Junior Product Manager role with the Peter Alexander team on a 12 month fixed-term contract!
Reporting to the Head of Product – Menswear, Childrenswear and Accessories, this role will support all aspects of the Menswear category. You will be responsible for understanding the brand target market, assisting with the design and selection of commercial product consistent with seasonal trends and brand direction.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the planning team to build and execute seasonal ranges for all markets (AU, NZ & UK)
- Manage the garment development process, including appropriate selection of fabric, trims, block colours and prints and assist the QA to fit to our required standards
- Approve all detail of final product in line with original design brief and ensure garments meet brand quality
- Work closely with the Retail & PA teams to understand the customer view of the product, what's working/not working and why – and action feedback through category management/OTB decisions
- Manage existing supplier base performance and negotiate costs to achieve overall initial margin budgets
- Management of product critical path for all garments in line with key dates for all regions ensuring on time delivery
- In conjunction with planning team conduct seasonal review of business & set financial targets for the coming season
- Understand the target market, who the customer is and select commercial seasonally appropriate product for each region
- Lead, coach and motivate a team of 2 to enhance their capability to deliver on clearly defined individual, team and brand objectives
- Research trends, product innovation & competitors
- Achieve budgeted sales and margin through continuous review of style / range performance, market opportunities and product trends
- Constantly review performance and future range inspirations to proactively drive the PA's competitive edge
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in retail apparel product management, development, and buying
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office, with particular expertise in Excel
- Proven ability to manage high-volume workloads in fast-paced, dynamic environments
- Deep understanding of garment construction, production processes, and fit specifications
- Demonstrated success in managing and negotiating with suppliers, including significant experience working with international vendors
- Effective leader with strong team management capabilities and a track record of successful stakeholder engagement
