About the Role:

Are you an experienced leader with a passion for rail operations and safety? As Train Control Manager for Aurizon’s Bulk Central rail networks, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and safety. This is your chance to lead a high-performing team, optimise train control operations, and shape the future of rail services in our business.

As Train Control Manager, you will bring your leadership expertise to the role, ensuring that operational and safety standards are upheld, while managing budgets and implementing business strategies to improve train control solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a ‘We Know Safe, We Choose Safe’ safety culture, ensuring the highest standards in health, safety, and well-being across operations.
  • Lead and coach a high-performance team to achieve business objectives and foster positive work and customer relationships.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of train control strategies and change management initiatives.
  • Effective labour resource management including workforce planning, succession planning, performance management, leave management as well as competency and capability development aligned to the overall business goals, objectives and train control strategy.
  • Manage and mitigate impact of events through coordination of emergency response and recovery efforts.
  • Manage budgets, financial targets, and collaborate with stakeholders to optimise service delivery and ensure timely results.
  • Analyse data, identify opportunities and establish plans for continuous improvement in safe working, business processes and systems/technology and collaborate to implement plans.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven line leadership experience in large-scale logistics or heavy industrial organisations (mandatory).
  • Certificate IV/Diploma in Frontline Management or equivalent (preferred).
  • Safeworking Theory Qualification (preferred).
  • Strong leadership skills, including team coaching, safety management, and change management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing abilities.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience in workforce development and succession planning.
  • Knowledge of train control operations, planning, and safe working systems (or ability to learn).
  • Resilient with the ability to analyse complex information and solve problems collaboratively.
