The Department of Econometrics & Business Statistics at Monash University is a global powerhouse with a dynamic team of approximately 50 leading academics and a similar number of PhD students, all with particular strengths in actuarial science, business statistics and econometrics.

The Role

The Department is on the lookout for a dynamic Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Associate Professor to join our collaborative team. As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor, you will contribute to the Department's profile, engage in scholarly activities, and play a major role in research. 

The relevant fields of specialisation for this role are econometrics, statistics, data science, machine learning, or a closely related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in one of the following areas: 

  • Applied econometrics or statistics
  • Computational econometrics or statistics
  • Econometric or statistical computing
  • Data science
  • Machine learning
  • Operations research 

Candidates should be prepared to teach in both business analytics and econometrics units/subjects as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high quality and impactful research
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, workshops, and seminars
  • Supervise and engage with honours or postgraduate students
  • Attend departmental, school, and/or faculty meetings
  • Fulfil committee responsibilities

About You

For the Level B Lecturer Role:

  • Qualifications: A doctoral qualification in econometrics, statistics, data science, machine learning, or a closely related discipline. 
  • Research Prowess: Showcase a robust research background with a commitment to top-tier journal publications.
  • People Skills: Possess a high level of interpersonal skills, motivating and actively engaging with students at a tertiary level.

For the Level C Senior Lecturer Role:

  • Credentials:  A doctoral qualification in econometrics, statistics, data science, machine learning, or a closely related discipline. 
  • Scholarly Impact: Demonstrate evidence of high-quality scholarly activity, including publications in top-quality journals.
  • Innovator: Proven track record of obtaining significant external grants for research, coupled with enthusiasm for curriculum development

For the Level D Associate Professor Role: 

  • Credentials:  A doctoral qualification in econometrics, statistics, data science, machine learning, or a closely related discipline. 
  • Scholarly Impact: A strong publication record in high-quality journals and a proven track record in obtaining significant external funding. 
  • Educational expertise: Proven teaching excellence through evaluations, innovative presentation, and curriculum development.
  • Managerial Acumen: A track record in effectively supervising postgraduate research students and enhancing postgraduate training programs.
