The Opportunity

The Level A academic who holds this position will fulfill a key role in the ARC-funded research project on “Medical Internationalism: Cuba and Eastern Europe, 1959-99” by contributing expertise on Cuban history. They will have primary responsibility for the conduct of Spanish-language research on medical internationalism in Cuba and will contribute as co-author to articles (both academic and publicly-engaged), book chapters, and a monograph.

This role involves conducting research independently and within a team, contributing to academic publications and conference papers, participating in professional activities such as conferences, performing limited administrative tasks related to research, developing research-related teaching material, and advising postgraduate students in their research field.

As the successful candidate, you will possess strong analytical and manuscript preparation skills with a record of refereed publications, problem-solving abilities, effective planning and organisational skills, and excellent written and verbal communication. You will have excellent Spanish research and communication skills, field research experience in Latin America or the Caribbean (preferably Cuba), and optional skills in Central/Eastern European languages.
