The Opportunity

Monash Nursing and Midwifery (MNM) is seeking an outstanding candidate to join a dynamic and high-achieving team. The successful candidate will capitalise and build on existing educational and research strengths and be a strong member of a committed team of academics within MNM. 

As an Associate Professor, you will provide outstanding educational opportunities to our students and, as part of the Monash Nursing and Midwifery team, contribute to growing collaborative research to place MNM at the forefront of translational research internationally. 

The Department

The Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, is the largest faculty at Monash University and offers the most comprehensive suite of professional health training in Victoria. Monash is a leading provider of undergraduate and postgraduate nursing and midwifery education in Victoria and has a world-class reputation, consistently ranked in the Top 20 Globally in the QS World University Rankings for Nursing (ranked 15th in 2023) and consistently ranked in the Top 40 Globally in the ARWU for Nursing (ranked equal 3rd in 2023).

One of the largest schools for the education of Nurses and Midwives in Australia, Monash Nursing and Midwifery (MNM) offers courses at two Monash campuses – Clayton and Peninsula. The school comprises approximately 3000 students undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate courses using a range of delivery modes. Monash Nursing and Midwifery offers high-quality tertiary degrees in a vibrant and supportive learning environment to prepare students for a rewarding nursing career. Monash Nursing and Midwifery aim to build on the existing capacity to lead innovative nursing curricula and modes of delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Provide strong leadership and strategic direction within MNM, collaborating with senior leadership to drive our mission forward
  • Research Excellence: Contribute to and lead high-impact research projects. Mentor early career researchers and supervise research students
  • Education: Deliver and develop world-class undergraduate and postgraduate nursing and midwifery programs
  • Collaborative Growth: Foster and grow collaborative research to position MNM at the forefront of translational research globally
  • Professional Engagement: Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to advance MNM's goals

Based at the Clayton or Peninsula campus, the successful candidate will hold current registration as a nurse and/or midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
