The Opportunity

The Technical Officer – provide expert professional and technical support to the Genomics Node at Monash Genomics and Bioinformatics Platform (MGBP). In this role, you will manage and deliver sequencing and technical services, including sample handling, throughput management, and client record-keeping, ensuring compliance with PQMS standards.
You will also operate and maintain genome analyzers and related equipment, perform liquid manipulations, and contribute to a safe and efficient lab environment. Working closely with researchers, clients, and students, you will offer expert technical advice and support innovative research in spatial and single-cell genomics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical services, including experiment execution, data collection, and analysis
- Work collaboratively with researchers to design experiments and select the right technologies
- Maintain specialist knowledge in genomics technologies, equipment, and data analysis
- Deliver technical advice and training to clients, staff, and students
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and strategic planning
- Ensure compliance with OHS policies, safety regulations, and quality standards
About You:
- Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience/training
- Strong technical and analytical skills in molecular biology, PCR, and genomics technologies
- Highly desirable experience with Illumina sequencing, Agilent Bioanalyzer, Qubit fluorimeter, and 10X Genomics systems
- Ability to collaborate with researchers and provide high-quality genomics support
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects efficiently
