The Opportunity
The ARC SRIEAS Securing Antarctica’s Environmental Future (SAEF) program is a leading international research initiative from the Faculty of Science focused on forecasting and addressing environmental change in Antarctica. With a $100M investment, SAEF uses cutting-edge technologies and collaborates with 25 partner organizations globally to shape the future of the region and tackle pressing environmental challenges.
We are seeking a Proposal Development Manager to join the SAEF team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing funding proposals to support multimillion-dollar projects focused on Antarctic and Earth System change, conservation, and environmental research. Collaborating closely with the SAEF Director, Partnerships Manager and Central Team, you will identify new funding opportunities, collaboratively develop proposals to take advantage of them, and manage submission processes. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research and make a lasting impact on environmental stewardship in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing complex proposals for large-scale, multimillion-dollar projects involving multiple stakeholders. They will possess strong organisational, planning, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts and policy advice. The role requires a proven track record of solving complex problems and collaborating effectively with external partners. A background in environmental research, particularly in Earth System change or Antarctic research, is highly desirable, along with a solid understanding of proposal submissions to government, philanthropic and industry schemes/partners. Strong project management skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a high level of discretion and initiative are essential.
