The Opportunity

Are you passionate about empowering students and driving inclusive change? Monash University is seeking a Disability Adviser to support accessibility and student success at Clayton campus.

The Disability Adviser manages a full-time caseload of students, including those identified as ‘at risk’, providing expert tailored support and fostering independence and self-advocacy across the student community. The Disability Adviser leads innovation by researching and recommending cutting-edge technologies to enhance academic support. Strategic collaboration with colleagues, the sharing of specialist knowledge and active involvement in operational planning are key to enhancing service delivery and shaping the future direction of Disability Support Services.

This role offers the opportunity to shape meaningful change, inform inclusive policy and be  part of a team that’s redefining what inclusive education looks like.

To be successful the ideal candidate will have:

  • Expert understanding of Commonwealth and State anti-discrimination legislation and a commitment to access and equity for people underrepresented in higher education
  • A growth mindset and demonstrated ability to stay up to date with industry standards  through relevant professional development and training
  • Experience assessing and coordinating reasonable adjustments to enable success in higher education
  • Proven ability to confidently engage with staff across the University and external organisations - negotiating, influencing and building strong partnerships regarding disability support
  • High level written and oral communication skills, with the ability to tailor content to a wide range of audiences
  • A collaborative and self-directed approach to work, with the confidence to operate both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You’ll demonstrate advanced organisational capabilities - setting priorities, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in a dynamic environment.
