The Opportunity
This is a role for a storyteller who can turn complex ideas into clear, compelling content that shapes how Monash’s priority narratives are developed and expressed.
As a Senior Editorial Content Specialist, you’ll lead the development of narrative approaches and content direction across campaigns, thought leadership and opinion-led storytelling. You’ll work upstream with teams to define narrative direction, translating research, institutional priorities and complex topics into clear narrative frameworks and content approaches that can be executed across owned digital channels.
You’ll provide senior planning guidance, mentor writers and shape narrative frameworks to ensure content is coherent, high-quality and strategically aligned. Partnering with marketing, brand and academic teams, you’ll coordinate editorial planning, story sequencing and multichannel storytelling, particularly across email and other owned channels where audience journeys and sequencing are critical.
You’ll think beyond individual pieces of content, shaping how stories unfold across channels over time to create connected narrative systems rather than standalone assets. You’ll also test and refine narrative approaches based on performance and audience response.
This is an opportunity to influence how Monash’s stories are developed and delivered, and to shape content that connects with diverse audiences in a clear and meaningful way.
About You
You’re a Senior content professional with extensive experience shaping high-quality content for digital audiences, including long-form storytelling, campaigns and opinion-led work. You know how to take complex subject matter and turn it into clear, engaging narratives.
You bring deep expertise in copywriting craft, with a strong command of tone, structure and narrative flow, and you use this to guide and elevate content quality across teams, not just produce it yourself.
You understand how content performs across digital channels, including web, email and social, and can use insight to inform editorial planning, sequencing and audience journey decisions. You’re highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and exercise sound judgement across complex content initiatives.
You’re a confident collaborator and influencer, comfortable working with senior stakeholders to shape messaging, storylines and campaign narratives. You work independently, bring initiative and attention to detail, and support teams to deliver clear, audience-led content.
If you’re ready to lead storytelling that informs, engages and strengthens how Monash connects with its audiences, we’d love to hear from you.
