The Opportunity
The Faculty of Law has two exciting opportunities for Graduate Lawyers to join our team. As a Graduate Lawyer, you will take part in a structured development program designed to cultivate exceptional legal professionals and prepare you for a successful career in legal practice.
You will play an important role in supporting Monash Law Clinics, delivering legal assistance to disadvantaged clients and contributing to experiential legal education for students within the Faculty. This includes providing direct assistance to clients and engaging with students involved in the delivery of legal services. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to other activities within Monash Law Clinics, such as public advocacy initiatives. Throughout the program, you will gain valuable hands-on experience and professional development across a diverse range of legal work within Monash Law Clinics and partner organisations.
As the successful candidate, you will hold a law degree from an Australian university and be admitted to practice as a lawyer. You will demonstrate excellent administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to develop efficient processes, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. With a strong commitment to providing high-quality legal assistance, you will take a hands-on approach to client service and work effectively with students in a supportive learning environment. You will have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, exercising sound judgement, initiative, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Your highly developed written and verbal communication skills will enable you to engage confidently with diverse clients and stakeholders, while your strong computer literacy, including experience with Google Suite and Actionstep, will further support your success in the role.
Experience in a community legal centre or legal clinic environment, and within higher education, will be highly regarded.
