About the Role

The Parliament House bureau is looking for a digital journalist to pitch and develop agenda setting political content, original stories and creative storytelling.

You'll create engaging content across various digital platforms and formats including news websites and apps, blogs, social content, vertical video and video on demand.

Working with the digital team, you'll also liaise with Newsroom colleagues from broadcast in Parliament House, other national teams, and the online central editorial team to ensure appropriate coverage of politics and national affairs.

About You

You will have advanced digital journalism skills with experience working in a news environment and a strong understanding of online news, including social media and methods of online content distribution and engagement.

You'll have a strong understanding of and commitment to the needs of the audience and a wide knowledge of national and international news particularly politics.  You'll also have comprehensive, meticulous, fast and accurate digital writer/sub-editor able to correct and, where necessary, rewrite copy to the highest standards.

You're a great communicator with advanced interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and autonomously to tight deadlines within the team.
