The Role

From the vines of the Barossa to the opal fields of Coober Pedy, the North and West of South Australia is one of the largest and most diverse regions served by a regional ABC bureau.

Reporting to the Local Editor, News Reporters are vital in bringing the characters and stories of these communities to local and national audiences. The ways to tell these stories are ever-evolving; it could be a live cross into TV with overlay you filmed yourself, an online story on Australia’s most trusted news website, a carefully crafted radio package on PM, a short piece in a radio news bulletin you’re presenting live or even an Instagram story.

The size of the team means you have support to pursue stories you’re passionate about, but also ample opportunity to step up and take a lead on breaking stories in the area – of which there are plenty!

The role involves some shift and weekend work.

The Job

You'll also:

  • Create accurate, concise and clear news content.
  • Deliver digital news content, radio news bulletins, Q&As, interviews and packages.
  • Work effectively within the Regional office, and co-ordinate output with the state and national news desks.
