The Role
The ABC is Australia’s most trusted creative home for bold, original storytelling. We deliver content that inspires, reflects and connects communities across the country. We are now seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Production Executive to play a pivotal role in realising our Entertainment, Arts, Music and Events slate.
Reporting to the Head of Production, this role provides critical leadership, strategic insight, and production expertise that enables the ABC to deliver exceptional content with excellence, efficiency and responsible use of resources.
You'll be responsible for providing high level strategic leadership across all stages of production from development to delivery, uploading and championing ABC policies, safety frameworks, and best practice production standards across all teams and partners.
You'll oversee internal ABC productions as well as co commissions with the external production sector, bringing substantial experience in studio production, outside broadcasts (OBs), live events, and large-scale event-based productions, ensuring smooth technical, creative and operational execution.

About You
You are an experienced and respected production leader with a comprehensive understanding of the commissioning process and the complexities of production financing, including deal negotiation, funding structures, cash flow management and collaboration with broadcasters, distributors, investors and government funding bodies.
You bring:
- Significant experience in broadcast, events, entertainment or arts production, including studio, live and OB environments.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess proposals, negotiate effectively and ensure financial rigour across productions.
- A calm, collaborative and solutions driven leadership style that supports creativity while maintaining operational excellence, whilst finding and innovative ways of working in an evolving media landscape.
- A reputation for building high-performing, inclusive production environments where teams feel supported and motivated.
