About the role

As a Medical Scientist (MeS-1), you will play a key role in performing routine and specialised tests on a variety of specimens of public health significance. This exciting position offers the opportunity to develop a specialty focus in pathogen genomics, public health, and epidemiology. Working under supervision, you will contribute to problem-solving, planning, execution, and reporting, while also helping to drive the development and adoption of innovative techniques and methodologies.

About You

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional with the skills and experience to thrive in a diagnostic microbiology laboratory environment. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong scientific and technical skills to perform laboratory tests and operate analytical equipment with minimal supervision, alongside experience in laboratory computing, data retrieval, and processing.
  • Organisational and Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, troubleshoot laboratory equipment, and develop practical solutions while adhering to high-quality standards and meeting workload targets.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Exceptional ability to collaborate in a team environment and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders through both oral and written communication, while delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Knowledge and Commitment: A sound understanding of microbiology, infectious diseases, and pathology principles, coupled with a commitment to maintaining professional standards, handling sensitive information responsibly, and working with human body fluids, tissues, and faeces in a diagnostic setting.
