About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsible for assisting in the provision of a high-quality endoscopy service to patients in the wards, Endoscopy Unit and outpatients. Duties for the role will include:

  • Assistance in the provision and supervision of Endoscopic procedures to patients in Flinders Medical Centre and elsewhere in Southern Adelaide Local Health Network,
  • To assist in the day-to-day management of gastrointestinal emergencies (including gastrointestinal bleeding) including of inpatients,
  • The Gastroenterology Fellow is expected to contribute with the other unit TMO staff to daily management of patients admitted to FMC under the bed-card of participating gastroenterology consultants,
  • The Gastroenterology Fellow is expected to participate in the education and training of the junior medical staff and to participate in undergraduate clinical teaching when required

About you:

  • MBBS or equivalent, with Full Registration with the Medical Board of South Australia as a medical officer,
  • Registration in final year of or Completion of the Physician Training Programme of the RACP (Advanced Training Programme for Gastroenterology and Hepatology) or equivalent,
  • Experience in Advanced Endoscopic techniques is desirable,
  • Completion of a minimum of 2 Core years of Advanced Training

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Advanced Trainee will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.

This is a single vacancy, with two possible appointment classifications. The successful applicants will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.
