    About the role

    Join the WCHN Yarrow Place Rape and Sexual Assault Service team as a Casual Medical Consultant or Casual Medical Practitioner on a 12-month (renewable) casual contract, comprising of 3 or more remote on call after hours shifts rostered flexibly each month.

    Primary duties of the role

    • Facilitate evidence-based high-quality forensic medical examinations for people aged 16 or above of any gender identity who have experienced recent sexual assault
    • Complete proforma documentation of the forensic medical examination for use within the legal system

    Occasional duties of the role

    • Provide peer-supported expert evidence regarding forensic medical examination findings for use within the legal system

    Skills and Experience

    • Sexual and reproductive health management including competent performance of anogenital examinations and provision of prophylaxis to prevent pregnancy and STIs
    • Acute medical assessment in a general practice, Emergency Department or other acute medical setting
    • Knowledge of contemporary practice, issues and research in relation to interpersonal violence, and of the issues relating to people who have experienced sexual assault, including a commitment to a feminist analysis of the issue
    • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to work with individuals for positive health outcomes and to foster productive working relationships both internally and externally
