    • An additional annual allowance of $11,174 is payable to Psychologists where the successful candidate holds an Area of Practice Endorsement provided by the Psychology Board of Australia (paid on pro rata basis).

About the role

The Senior Psychologist provides advanced clinical services to child and adolescent mental health patients, offering professional leadership and supervision. They contribute to service improvements, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and help shape service delivery to meet community needs and client demand.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide expert clinical assessments using psychometric tools and structured interviews to evaluate cognitive, emotional, and behavioural functioning.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to optimize client care, using clinical psychology expertise to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Assess complex cases independently, applying various therapeutic approaches to determine the most appropriate interventions.
  • Implement individual, family, and group therapies, utilising diverse models and skills to meet client needs.
  • Guide junior staff through complex cases, co-leading clinical discussions and ensuring high-quality care.

Skills and Experience

  • Must hold an appropriate degree in Psychology or equivalent qualification recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Must hold general registration with Psychology Board of Australia and be endorsed in clinical psychology or forensic psychology
  • Must hold approved supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia at all levels of supervision (primary and secondary).
  • Extensive clinical experience in the delivery of mental health psychology services to children and adolescents, with advanced clinical experience in the delivery of a range of evidence based clinical modalities relevant to Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
  • Extensive experience around supervision of clinical staff in a mental health setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out psychology assessments and therapeutic interventions of a highly complex nature with emotionally disturbed children and adolescents, and their families using a range of theoretical models in assessment and intervention
