About the role: 

Reporting to the Team Manager, some of your duties for the role will include:

  • Working with a SAAS crew to inform the emergency management of presenting issues and provide clinical decision-making regarding diagnosis, treatment, referral, support or advice to consumers contacting SAAS requesting mental health support or advice
  • Where appropriate facilitating a direct admission to a mental health inpatient unit in consultation with medical and nursing staff and the SALHN MHS Flow Coordinator, to reduce the number of Emergency Department presentations
  • Providing professional clinical supervision and contributing to the education activities of other health professionals within the area of mental health
  • Working in conjunction with other team members and other agencies to optimise consumer functioning and health outcomes

About you:

  • Demonstrated high level competency and extensive knowledge in generic mental health and discipline specific assessment and treatment with a broad range of clinical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive linkages and working partnerships with other agencies 
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel) and database packages
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation
  • Experience in the supervision of students and less experienced mental health clinicians

This is a single vacancy, with two possible appointment classifications. The successful applicants will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.

Please note that this position is multi-classed as either a AHP3 or RNM3 and classification will be determined by qualifications and experience.
