WHAT ARE WE OFFERING? 

Lead and coordinate the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred midwifery care within defined clinical areas, providing strong line management, leadership, and support to nursing, midwifery, and multidisciplinary teams. This role is accountable for ensuring safe, consistent practice, driving team performance, and fostering a positive culture to achieve optimal outcomes for women, babies, and families. 

As a key leader within the Southern Midwifery Group, the Midwifery Unit Manager will play a central role in the transition to the BHFLHN Midwifery Model of Care, supporting the implementation of a continuity of care model across the network. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to service transformation and lead teams through change to deliver improved, consistent care experiences.

HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE? 

You will………. 

  • Provide expert clinical leadership to coordinate patient/client care delivery, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes through the integration of evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and continuous improvement.  
  • Lead day-to-day operational management of a ward/unit/service, including patient flow, workforce coordination, rostering, resource allocation, and maintaining continuity of care.  
  • Drive quality, safety, and risk management activities by using clinical information systems, monitoring incidents, implementing corrective actions, and contributing to policy and procedure development.  
  • Foster a strong learning and improvement culture through staff education, coaching, performance development, and application of contemporary evidence and research to practice.  
  • Provide professional leadership across nursing/midwifery teams, acting as a role model and change leader while contributing to broader service development and model of care improvements.
