Lead safer care - Turn insight into action.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Consumer Safety Officer to support high-quality incident management, strengthen safety systems, and drive continuous improvement across health services.  This role plays a key part in ensuring incidents are effectively managed, learnings are embedded, and consumers remain at the centre of safe care.

About the Role

Working closely with the Consumer Safety & Incident Manager and Safety & Quality Team, you will strengthen consumer safety systems and contribute to meaningful, system-wide improvements

  • Lead incident management & reporting - Support timely reporting, analysis and escalation of patient safety incidents
  • Coordinate investigations & reviews - Support critical incident reviews using recognised methodologies (e.g. RCA, London Protocol)
  • Drive safety improvement & learning - Translate incident data into insights, recommendations and sustained practice change
  • Provide expert advice & risk analysis - Deliver high-level analysis to support decision-making and risk mitigation
  • Embed culturally responsive practice - Ensure safe, respectful and equitable approaches for Aboriginal consumers and communities.

About You

You are a collaborative and analytical nursing professional with strong clinical governance experience and a commitment to improving safety outcomes.  You bring:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (or eligibility)
  • Minimum 3 years post-registration experience
  • Experience with clinical incident systems (e.g. Safety Learning System)
  • Strong analytical, investigation and risk assessment skills
  • Excellent written communication, including reporting and executive summaries
  • Ability to influence, engage stakeholders and support change
  • Experience in incident review, action planning and follow-through
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, consumer-centred care
