About the Role:
The Older Adults Supportive Interim Stay (OASIS) Unit is a 20-bed service that will provide short-term person-centred care to Older People who are medically and behaviourally stable and awaiting transition to their next care environment. The OASIS Unit will provide a care environment that is more home like when compared to that of a traditional acute or sub-acute ward. It is designed to maximise wellbeing, preserve physical function, support behavioural stability and facilitate timely access to longer term care within a RACH.

What You'll Be Doing
Working within the OASIS unit at Modbury Hospital, you will deliver high-quality interim care to older adults while they await or transition between longer-term support arrangements. Multiple positions are available on a full-time, fixed-term basis through to 26 March 2027.
- Provide comprehensive nursing assessment and care planning tailored to older adult presentations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including allied health, medical staff, and community care providers to coordinate safe discharge pathways
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, applying evidence-based clinical judgement
- Support patients and families through care transitions with clear communication and compassionate practice
What You'll Bring
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated experience in aged care, geriatrics, or a related acute/subacute setting
- Sound knowledge of the clinical and psychosocial needs of older adult patients
- Effective communication skills across multidisciplinary and patient-family contexts
- Familiarity with SA Health clinical documentation systems or comparable EMR platforms
- Commitment to NALHN's safety and quality frameworks and person-centred care principles
To be eligible for this position, you must be Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
