About the role

The Allied Health Assistant provides day-to-day support for inpatient and outpatient care, assisting Physiotherapists with patient interventions under direct or indirect supervision. The Allied Health Assistant works with patients across neurological, respiratory, orthopaedic and obstetric/gynaecological services, and undertakes routine hydrotherapy pool water quality and chemical testing.

Key duties of the role

• Deliver high quality patient care as directed by therapist.
• Assist in individual or group therapy sessions.
• Provide standby assistance in the hydrotherapy pool.
• Prepare equipment and facilities for use.
• Monitor, order, and supply equipment and consumable stock levels.

Skills and Experience

• Refer to the Allied Health Assistance Qualification Equivalency document for essential educational/vocational qualifications.
• Experience in a patient care setting or in assisting a health care professional.
• High levels of professionalism and effective communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of an Allied Health Professional.
