About the position

The Deputy Director, Student Engagement and Inclusion reports to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Student Experience and Employability and is responsible for leading the management and implementation of the University’s strategic initiatives to strengthen student engagement and experience outcomes and support inclusion and equity for students and staff.

As a senior leader, the Deputy Director leads teams accountable for improving institutional student engagement outcomes across all campuses and the outcomes for inclusion and prevention that contribute to the creation of a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for the La Trobe community.  

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Ability to develop and lead a strategic vision for programs and services delivered by Student Engagement and the Prevention and Inclusion teams in support of La Trobe’s strategic priorities. 
  • A proven track record in the higher education sector developing, leading and delivering strategic initiatives to improve student experience, engagement, retention, equity, and inclusion outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience as a senior leader with highly developed communication skills, an ability to lead and motivate others and deliver best practice approaches in program and service delivery.
  • Ability to support shared purpose, be accountable, think strategically, and harness information and opportunities to reinforce the vision for the future of the University.
  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience meeting relevant University obligations with respect to compliance, policy, safety, and legislative requirements.
  • Highly developed key stakeholder management skills and experience and the ability to provide strategic advice to University leaders on matters relating to student engagement and prevention and inclusion strategies.
