About the position
The Lecturer (Level B) will bring a strong understanding of teacher education in the context of marginalised schools and will contribute to the ongoing development of the Nexus pathway and related course offerings. They will play a key role in student and partner school recruitment across New South Wales, the design and delivery of innovative curricula, and the implementation of contemporary, evidence-informed learning interventions tailored to the needs of regional, rural, and low socio-economic status (SES) schools.
The appointee will have a solid grasp of education and policy reform, with the ability to translate this knowledge into effective professional practice and course development. They will be actively engaged in scholarly and research activities that align with the Nexus mission, contributing to impactful research outputs that further strengthen La Trobe’s national standing as a leader in teacher education for disadvantaged communities.
The successful candidate will promote excellence in teaching and curriculum innovation across the School, University, and the broader education sector. Travel between La Trobe University campuses will be required as part of this role.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have;
- Completion, or near completion of a PhD degree or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University or relevant professional field.
- A strong understanding of theories, trends, and education reforms focused on preparing teachers for regional, rural and low SES school contexts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research-informed and evidence-based approaches to teaching, learning and curriculum development across face-to-face, blended and/or online delivery modes.
- Proven ability to influence and enhance the teaching practices of peers through leadership, mentoring, or curriculum development initiatives.
- Familiarity with the NSW school system and curriculum frameworks to support effective planning and delivery of learning experience (desirable not essential).
