  • Level A Academic (Research only)
  • Base salary from $81,594 plus 15% super contributions 

About the position

The project is led by Prof Nora Shields from the Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre at La trobe University, and  A/Prof Leanne Hassett from the University of Sydney.

The aim of the project is to increase participation in physical activity among adults with intellectual disability. We will co-design and evaluate a cross-sector physical activity navigator program with adults with intellectual disability and our community project partners (Inclusion Australia, Down Syndrome Victoria and Prader-Willi Research Foundation of Australia).

The incumbent in this position will work closely with the research team and interest-holders to ensure timely completion of research activities including preparation of ethics applications, data collection, data analysis and maintaining research records. They will be autonomous in making decisions within established frameworks, plan and prioritise their workload, and handle routine tasks independently while assisting with more complex issues when needed. Occasional travel to study sites in other Australian states may be required.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in science, health, allied health, medicine and equivalent relevant experience.
  • Evidence of the ability to work effectively under limited supervision or independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds including people with intellectual disability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team in a supportive, inclusive and collegial manner.
  • Proven computer literacy and proficiency in using various research and administrative software applications, that may include Microsoft Suite, REDCap, Covidence, SPSS or other relevant software
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods
  • Excellent organisational skills, including database management skills and time management skills.
