Compass Group Australia will deliver essential support services at the new Footscray Hospital, one of Victoria’s largest health infrastructure projects. We will provide vital services, including patient services, environmental services, food, security, help desk, and more. As a public hospital with clinical services provided by Western Health, this state-of-the-art facility will play a key role in supporting the community—be part of something bigger and help shape the future of healthcare in Victoria.
Based in Footscray, Melbourne, the General Services Manager will oversee the delivery of non-clinical support services including Cleaning and Environmental Services, Food Services, Patient Service Assistants, Environmental Services, Security, and Grounds & Gardens.
THE POSITION
- Lead and manage all contracted services within the hospital, ensuring excellence in quality, safety, cost, and service delivery.
- Build and sustain strong client relationships across a broad stakeholder network.
- Develop and coach management teams to deliver operational excellence and drive growth opportunities.
- Champion a culture of care, respect, and engagement to enhance team performance.
- Maintain financial accountability, achieve budget targets, and identify areas for contract expansion.
- Ensure compliance with all company, client, and regulatory requirements, promoting strong governance practices.
THE PERSON
- Proven track record managing complex, compliance-driven contracts and budgets, ideally within healthcare and/or a PPP.
- Experienced leader with the ability to motivate and support both unionised and non-unionised teams.
- Customer-focused, with a passion for high standards, service delivery, and continuous improvement.
- Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate in politically sensitive environments.
- Solid understanding of day-to-day operational requirements and a keen eye for process improvement.
- Background in multi-service or facilities management within healthcare strongly preferred.
- Formal management qualifications desirable.
- Must meet site entry requirements including a current National Police Clearance and relevant immunisations.
