General Manager – Regulatory & Government Affairs
Australia’s wagering and gaming sector is undergoing significant regulatory and structural change. Expectations around safer gambling are rising, policies are evolving, and the industry remains subject to sustained government, regulator and public scrutiny.
For Tabcorp, this is a defining period. As General Manager – Regulatory & Government Affairs, you’ll play a central role in shaping how the business responds, strengthens its licence to operate, and engages with government and regulators at the highest levels.
What You’ll Lead
Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, you’ll lead Tabcorp’s regulatory and government affairs function (including the Safer Gambling and Technical Regulation teams) and drive a broad enterprise-wise agenda across regulatory strategy, external engagement, governance and responsible business practices. Your key focus areas will include:
- Setting and driving Tabcorp’s enterprise-wide regulatory affairs and safer gambling strategy, positioning and engagement approach.
- Building strategic, constructive relationships with regulators, government, industry bodies and key external stakeholders.
- Providing strategic advice and challenge to the Executive and Board on regulatory change, policy reform and emerging risks.
- Leading the enterprise response to complex regulatory change, translating obligations into clear and commercially sound direction.
- Ensuring strong regulatory governance across licensing, submissions, disclosures and formal regulatory correspondence.
- Strengthening Tabcorp’s regulatory credibility through safer gambling uplift, responsible business practices and constructive policy engagement.
What You’ll Bring
You are an established senior leader with deep experience operating at the intersection of regulation, public policy and commercial strategy. You bring sound judgement, strong external credibility and a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders in complex, high-scrutiny environments.
You’ll therefore bring:
- Proven experience influencing government policy, regulatory reform or industry outcomes through credible engagement, negotiation and advocacy.
- Demonstrated ability to work with Executives, Boards and senior stakeholders on complex enterprise-wide matters.
- Deep understanding of legislative and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to interpret policy intent and translate it into business impact.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to balance regulatory expectations, organisational objectives and sustainable business outcomes.
- Experience leading complex negotiations with regulators, government bodies or industry stakeholders.
- Executive influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge, align and guide senior decision-makers.
Why This Role
This is a rare opportunity to shape regulatory strategy at scale, with direct influence on government engagement, industry policy and enterprise decision-making. You’ll help influence the future of wagering in Australia, lead how Tabcorp responds to regulatory change, and strengthen its position as Australia’s leading wagering company.
