About the Role:

In this pivotal role as the Maintenance Manager, you'll have the unique opportunity to evolve, shape, and grow your department, positioning it for future success. Leading your site and team to achieve operational excellence, you'll be at the forefront of exciting projects, ensuring that every aspect of our operations runs smoothly and safely. Your expertise in cost management and safety compliance will be crucial in maintaining the efficient operation of all equipment at our Upper Tier COMAH site.

You'll lead a dedicated team of mechanical and electrical technicians, oversee contractors, and manage the safe system of work, including the issuing of permits. Your leadership will be key in upholding our high safety standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and driving the success of our maintenance operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a safety-first operation, driving towards an incident-free workplace, and report on Process Safety Performance Indicators monthly.
  • Supervise and allocate work to our Maintenance Team and contractors, ensuring all activities are carried out safely and to specification.
  • Plan and oversee day-to-day site maintenance, including safety-critical equipment and fire protection systems.
  • Manage the SAP/FSM maintenance scheduling system, ensuring it is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Control the maintenance department's budget, manage cost centres, and oversee purchasing orders.
  • Support Engineering projects, ensuring all modifications and inspections are integrated into site operations.
  • Play an active role in audits and the incident management team, providing technical advice and support as needed.
  • Participate in Emergency Response duties, including occasional out-of-hours on-call support, ensuring availability to respond within 60 minutes of travel time to the site.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Full UK Driving License
  • A strong leader with a passion for developing and motivating your team to achieve their best.
  • A solid professional background in engineering, with at least an NVQ Level 3 or HNC in Engineering, Mechanical is desirable.  
  • Experience in maintaining COMAH or high-hazard sites is highly desirable.
  • Ideally, you hold a NEBOSH or IOSH Safety Qualification and possess a thorough understanding of health and safety legislation and procedures.
  • Proficient in maintenance systems, with a strong grasp of planned preventative maintenance regimes.
  • Familiarity with hazardous area regulations, including hands-on experience with electronic control systems, pumps, compressors, pneumatics, pipework, and pressure vessels.
  • Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
