Join the Calor Gas Team: Seeking an Experienced HGV Technician in Neath.
Are you a proactive and skilled HGV Technician? Calor Gas is looking for someone just like you to join our on-site workshop in Bury St Edmunds. In this role, you'll take charge of maintaining, repairing, and modifying our fleet of vehicles and trailers, while also providing essential technical support, from fault analysis to resolution.
We’re seeking a candidate who can deliver high-quality technical work, all while adhering to strict Health & Safety standards when handling equipment, machines, and tools. Your initiative and attention to detail, coupled with a strong understanding of vehicles, trailers, and workshop equipment, will be key to your success. Additionally, your organizational skills will be essential in maintaining clear documentation, keeping accurate records, and meeting important deadlines.
You will be responsible for carrying out general maintenance and repair work on the company's fleet of vehicles and trailers, ensuring that all vehicles are in safe working order. Your role requires you to execute repairs to the highest standards while conducting in-depth engineering work and diagnostics. You should be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a close-knit team. It’s crucial that all repairs are performed in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation and company policies. Additionally, you will need to safely operate all relevant equipment, machines, and tools, and complete all associated documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
The Ideal Candidate
- Education to City & Guilds standard in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
- Previous experience as an HGV Mechanic in a similar role is essential.
- Preferable (but not mandatory) to hold an HGV C+E licence (Class 1) and a current ADR.
- Strong working knowledge of vehicles, trailers, workshop plant, and equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic problems.
- Strong fault-finding skills with the ability to multitask and meet key deadlines.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
