About the Opportunity: Technology Contracts & Vendor Performance Lead

WorkCover Queensland is strengthening its technology governance through a strategic uplift of the Technology Contracts and Vendor Management function. This is a rare opportunity to lead the design, build, and delivery of this function, shaping frameworks, processes, and practices that will underpin long-term vendor governance and contract management excellence.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Technology Vendor Governance, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of technology contracts and end-to-end vendor management. This is a pivotal role where you will be both strategic and hands-on, shaping how WorkCover manages technology vendors and contracts across a diverse and complex portfolio. You will work closely with Technology, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and business teams to ensure contracts and vendor engagements deliver value, manage risk, and support enterprise priorities.

WorkCover’s technology vendor landscape is broad and complex, spanning software, hardware, professional services, and SaaS solutions. Managing this diverse portfolio requires both strategic oversight and hands-on execution, highlighting the operational and governance challenges involved in building a centralised, fit-for-purpose technology vendor and contract management function.

In this role, you’ll take the lead in shaping WorkCover’s technology contracts and vendor management function, translating strategy into tangible outcomes through both hands-on execution and enterprise-wide influence. You’ll:

  • Design, build, and deliver frameworks, processes, templates, and governance practices for effective technology contract and vendor management.

  • Manage and execute the full lifecycle of contracts, including procurement, negotiation, execution, administration, renewal, and exit activities.

  • Drive and deliver improved vendor performance by monitoring outcomes, assessing risks, and ensuring SLAs and KPIs are met.

  • Collaborate and influence stakeholders across Technology, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and business units to ensure contracts and vendor engagements support organisational priorities.

  • Advise and guide leadership with strategic commercial and governance insights to enable informed, enterprise-wide decisions.

  • Actively deliver hands-on management of contracts and vendors while building capability, structure, and tools for the emerging function.

A bit about you:

You are a strategic thinker who thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and enjoys building a technology-focused function from the ground up. You understand procurement in the context of technology solutions and projects, applying it to software, hardware, services, and vendors, and can navigate the full contract and vendor lifecycle with confidence.

You are comfortable balancing agility with the right-sized governance and process approach, ensuring effective delivery while building scalable, fit-for-purpose practices. You communicate clearly and persuasively when negotiating with vendors, advising leadership, or collaborating across teams.

You will also bring:

  • Proven experience managing technology vendors and contracts across software, hardware, professional services, and SaaS solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of contract terms, procurement processes, and risk management.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish or uplift processes, governance, and frameworks for contract and vendor management.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, and negotiation skills.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Legal, Business, IT, Project Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
