Flux Federation is a leading technology company known for creating software products and experiences for innovative energy retailers and their customers across the world. We’re the power behind international award-winning energy brand Powershop.
Flux is a team of around 150 software developers, designers, testers and product people based in Wellington, Auckland, and Birmingham. The Flux platform is used by energy retailers around the world to offer the best multi-channel experience to their customers.
People are at the heart of everything we do. The Flux crew is vital to the success of our platform, our products and our company. They’re what makes Flux, well, Flux. We work together to discover new ways people can experience energy, sharing our knowledge and expertise with each other to truly build and design an energy experience like no other.
We’re also serious about growing diversity in the tech industry. We want Flux to be an environment where Fluxters love their work and show respect and empathy to the people we interact with everyday. We welcome all differences and strive to increase the visibility of traditionally underrepresented groups.
You’re a senior engineering manager with plenty of experience in building and running multiple teams of developers to predictably deliver quality software.
Having worked as an engineer previously, ideally in a SaaS product company, you’ve got a deep understanding of software development and are able to guide the evolution of a mature technology platform. You identify engineering processes and practices that can be used to improve quality, velocity, and engagement.
You understand how to get stuff done in a large organisation. Whether that’s connecting your teams with the right people, clearing roadblocks, or building technical cohesion across multiple groups.
You also have a history of coaching and mentoring the next generation of engineering leaders.
You will be responsible for approximately 4 teams and 25 engineering staff tasked with building out our SaaS platform. This will require you to operate both strategically and operationally.
Operationally you’ll be responsible for ensuring your teams are delivering quality software at an appropriate cadence. You will be working across the organisation to make sure everything is in place for your teams to be working on the right thing at the right time.
Strategically you’ll be thinking 3-6 month ahead to make sure your teams have the right solutions, capacity, and capability to deliver on our roadmap. Furthermore you’ll be identifying technology gaps in our platform and working with the VP Engineering to deliver technical and process improvements.
With your team leads you’ll be working to ensure that the teams are performing, and that everyone is engaged and satisfied. This will involve managing recruitment, performance, and development plans.
A commitment to collaboration and open communication.
An ability, desire, and willingness to learn.
Excellent critical thinking skills and curiosity.
Pragmatism in your approach: you won’t always be able to make it perfect.
An ability to challenge the status quo.
