State Manager - QLD/NT

  • Lead a flagship operational portfolio within an ASX100 industrial group
  • Lift safety and operational standards across a large, multi‑site business
  • Shape culture, capability and long‑term performance

State Manager - Collections (Queensland and NT)

The opportunity

Opportunities with this level of scale, autonomy and commercial accountability do not come to market often.

This is a chance to step in and lead a major operating business rather than a function, to shape operating standards across a large footprint, and to have real influence over people, assets and long‑term performance.

You will lead one of the organisation’s largest and most operationally complex state portfolios, Queensland and NT Collections. This Vertical stream operates at significant scale and delivers essential services across a large, geographically dispersed footprint.

The business is well established, commercially sophisticated and operationally dense. The focus of the role is not reset or turnaround, but how the business operates at scale, how leaders lead, and how performance is sustained across people, assets and customers.

The role carries end‑to‑end accountability for safety, operations and commercial outcomes across Queensland and the Northern Territory. It offers genuine authority, visibility and impact within a large, highly operational environment.

About the role

As State Manager, you will lead a large, logistics‑led operation comprising approximately 30 sites across Queensland and the Northern Territory, with around 600 employees, predominantly frontline and operational in nature. The business includes a substantial fleet and asset base supporting daily service delivery.

The role leads through four direct reports and a further four indirect reports at Branch and Regional Manager level. You will own full state P&L accountability, with responsibility for commercial performance across revenue, margin, cost control, capital discipline and return on assets.

Success will come from visible leadership, strong operating rhythm and the ability to translate strategy into consistent execution across a dispersed and complex operating footprint.

Key responsibilities

You will have full accountability for state‑wide P&L performance across a large multi‑site operation. You will lead a complex collections and logistics network, ensuring reliability, efficiency and customer outcomes at scale.

You will set clear standards for safety and embed consistent operational discipline across sites. You will drive performance through clear expectations, cadence and accountability, and optimise the end‑to‑end value chain across people, fleet, assets, labour and pricing.

A core part of the role is building leadership depth and succession across senior operational roles, while working closely with corporate functions, customers and regulators. Regular travel across Queensland and the Northern Territory is required.

About you

This role suits an experienced General Manager or Senior State‑level Manager who has demonstrated experience operating at scale.

You bring experience leading large, asset‑intensive operations such as logistics, waste, industrial services, manufacturing or similar environments. You have owned a material P&L and understand how value is created through disciplined operations, commercial judgement and strong leadership.

You lead with credibility on the ground and are comfortable operating across both frontline environments and senior leadership forums. Your approach to safety is visible, values‑led and non‑negotiable. You are known for building strong leadership teams and lifting performance maturity over time.

This is your opportunity to lead Queensland and Northern Territory Collections toward our Sustainability Framework and Blueprint 2030 strategy
