Regional Manager | Western Australia

About Us

Join us at Cleanaway and contribute to making a sustainable future possible, together.

We transform waste into resources and renewable energy.  When you start to think of waste as a resource, it opens a world of possibilities.

As a high-growth, ASX-listed organisation with over 10,000 employees, our goal is to be recognised by our customers as the most innovative and sustainable waste management company with industry-leading HSE performance.  We are Australia’s largest company in this sector, providing essential services to millions of customers and communities nationally.

We are seeking an experienced, commercially driven Regional Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of operations across regional Western Australia.

Based in Perth, with regular travel to regional locations, this is a senior operational leadership role with full accountability for regional safety, people, financial and operational performance.

You will lead a team of Branch Managers across geographically dispersed operations, driving business performance, operational excellence and sustainable growth in markets with unique commercial and operational challenges.

We are looking for a leader who combines strong commercial judgement with practical operational experience. Someone who takes ownership, challenges the status quo, develops capable leaders and translates business strategy into measurable results.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Business Performance: Take full ownership of regional P&L, budgets, forecasts and financial outcomes, identifying opportunities to improve profitability, productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive safe, reliable and efficient operations through effective resource planning, fleet utilisation, labour productivity and continuous improvement.
  • People Leadership: Lead, coach and develop Branch Managers, building leadership capability, accountability, succession strength and a high-performance culture.
  • Safety Leadership: Champion a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, strong risk management and consistent operational discipline.
  • Commercial Growth: Identify and deliver profitable growth opportunities, strengthen customer relationships and ensure commercially sustainable contract performance.
  • Strategic Execution: Translate business priorities into clear regional action plans, challenge existing ways of working and deliver measurable improvements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work collaboratively with Sales, Fleet, Finance, HSE and People teams to resolve challenges and deliver business outcomes.

About You

You are an experienced operational leader with strong business acumen, a track record of delivering results and the confidence to lead complex, geographically dispersed operations.

You are equally comfortable analysing financial performance, challenging operational inefficiencies, developing your leadership team and making practical decisions in the field.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience leading multi-site operations or a significant business portfolio, ideally within waste management, industrial services, transport, logistics or a comparable industry.
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership, financial management capability and a track record of improving profitability and operational performance.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to assess business opportunities, manage contract performance and make sound financial decisions.
  • Experience leading and developing managers, setting clear expectations and driving accountability for results.
  • A practical, hands-on leadership style, with the ability to identify operational issues, challenge existing practices and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with the resilience to operate effectively in challenging regional environments.
  • The ability to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day operational execution and deliver outcomes through others.
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout regional Western Australia.

A tertiary qualification in business, operations management or a related discipline is desirable, although substantial relevant leadership and commercial experience will be equally valued.

Why Join Cleanaway?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a substantial regional business within Australia's leading waste management organisation, with the autonomy to influence performance, develop people and shape future growth.

You will be supported by an established national business, with opportunities for career progression, leadership development and a competitive remuneration package.
