The College of Community Health Sciences at the University of Alabama is seeking an innovative, visionary, and inclusive leader to serve as the Chair of the newly established Department of Translational Science and Medicine (DTSM), starting in Fall 2025. This role offers a unique opportunity for a distinguished scientist to lead and shape a growing department at a prominent R1 research university. The Chair will be responsible for strategically recruiting the next generation of faculty, expanding and enhancing the department’s research portfolio, fostering a robust teaching culture, advancing both graduate and undergraduate education, and promoting a welcoming environment in which staff, faculty, and students excel. Additionally, the Chair will play a key role in mentoring junior faculty, supporting their professional development, and guiding their growth within the department. Nursing - Saxon Endowed Chair in Rural Nursing – 9 Month Associate/Full Professor Tenure/Tenure Track - 525870
The Saxon Endowed Chair in Rural Nursing is a 9-month position for a highly accomplished scholar who has a record of collaborating with faculty and students to plan, design, conduct, evaluate and disseminate rural-focused nursing research and scholarship activities. The Saxon Chair is expected to obtain external funding, support our emphasis on rural nursing, teach in the CCN’s graduate programs and serve as a mentor to both faculty and students. The person in this position is considered an informal leader in the College who supports the College’s mission, vision and goals. This is a representation of possible duties for the Saxon Chair and is not an all-inclusive listing.

The Associate Director of the Counseling Center assists with the oversight of direct service, training, and administrative functions necessary for the operation and maintenance of the Counseling Center through management and coordination of specified program(s) and/or area(s) of service. Provides direct counseling services to enrolled University students and supervises students in the mental health professions.
