For every child, care

UNICEF Haiti is increasingly focused on engaging with the donor community, strengthening donor management, outreach and recognition to secure additional resources to effectively deliver results for children. Furthermore, the donor reporting, and recognition requirements are significant with a range of 20 donors to engage, and more than 80 formal and informal reports developed on a yearly basis. To effectively maintain ongoing partnerships and mobilize required funding for programme implementation in 2025-26, and to cover expected gaps in the RM team in 2025, additional capacity is required.

How can you make a difference? 

Under the supervision of the Partnerships Manager, the Donor Relations Specialist position’s purpose is to deepen collaboration with key stakeholders and provide an interface for environmental scanning, knowledge exchange, resource mobilization, and policy influence, with a focus on reporting, partnership management and outreach.  

The incumbent may also serve as focal point and resource for colleagues on specific thematic areas of strategic relevance for partnership development.  

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • Contribute to the implementation of annual partnership engagement and resource mobilization plans.
  • Work with Programmes/communications/PM&E to identify partnership and resource mobilization needs, broker resource mobilization agreements to meet those needs, and define key donor recognition/engagement strategies for major bilateral donors.
  • Enhance accountability and performance management by developing and maintaining effective monitoring tools, including dedicated dashboards, UNISON, regular Resource Mobilization task forces, and consultations with LAC Regional Office and headquarters.
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge and familiarity of prospective partners and relevant stakeholders, contributing to a database of key contacts.
  • Lead preparation and dissemination of various information products, including factsheets/infographics, briefing notes, human interest stories and social media products.
  • Support quality assurance to outgoing donor reporting and engagement content as required.
  • Work with Programmes and communication sections to maximize donor recognition through strengthened reporting visibility and engagement activities.
  • Contribute to the development of new partnership and resource mobilization practices and approaches by formulating recommendations for action based on on-going monitoring, analyzing current trends within designated partners and formulating recommendations for strategy approaches and message development.
  • Support Programmes with grant management in line with donor conditions and UNICEF procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the success of the team, including guiding, training, and coaching short-term staff, including interns and consultants, as needed on donor reporting and other RM tasks.

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: An advanced university degree (Masters) is required in one of the following fields: international relations, political science, public relations / communications, international development, or another relevant technical field.
  • Work Experience: 
    • A minimum of five years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: public affairs, programme management, resource mobilization, external relations, or other relevant area. 
    • Experience working in an emergency setting is required. 
    • Experience working with UNICEF/UN at country level is an asset. 
    • Developing country work experience and knowledge of Haiti’s context is considered an asset.
       
  • Language Requirements: Good working knowledge of English and French is required. Knowledge of Haitian creole is an asset.

Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
