                                                         TERMS OF REFERENCE

Under the supervision of the People and Culture Section, the consultant will:

  • Conduct an initial language assessment of participating staff and group participants according to proficiency levels;
  • Develop an English language learning plan and training methodology adapted to adult learners and professional work environments;
  • Deliver regular English language training sessions for UNICEF staff members, both individual and group-based where applicable;
  • Develop learning materials, exercises and practical assignments tailored to UNICEF workplace communication needs;
  • Support participants in improving written and oral communication skills, including emails, reports, presentations and meeting participation;
  • Conduct periodic assessments to monitor learning progress;
  • Provide monthly progress reports and recommendations for continued learning;
  • Submit a final report summarizing activities implemented, participation rates, progress achieved and recommendations.

Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional certification in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL), TEFL, CELTA, DELTA or equivalent is highly desirable.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in teaching English as a second or foreign language.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering English language training to adult learners in professional or corporate environments.
  • Experience conducting language assessments and developing customized learning plans.
  • Proven ability to design interactive and practical training materials.
  • Experience working with international organizations, UN agencies, NGOs or development partners is an asset.

Language Requirements:

  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Good command of French.

Skills

  • Strong facilitation, coaching and interpersonal communication skills.
