The purpose of this assignment is to design, develop, and operationalize a National Electronic Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (eMPDSR) System for Lesotho that will strengthen the timely identification, notification, review, analysis, and response to maternal, neonatal, stillbirth, and perinatal deaths. The system will serve as a unified national platform that integrates and interoperates with existing government information systems, including DHIS2, CRVS, IDSR, and other relevant platforms, to improve mortality surveillance, enhance accountability, support evidence-based decision-making, and accelerate reductions in preventable maternal and newborn deaths.
To support implementation of the National SRHR Roadmap and achievement of project objectives, UNICEF Lesotho, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, seeks to engage a consultant to provide dedicated technical and coordination support for SRHR monitoring, accountability, data systems, reporting, knowledge management and stakeholder coordination. The consultant will help ensure that roadmap priorities are implemented, progress is tracked, evidence is generated and lessons are documented to inform decision-making, accountability and future scale-up.
Under the EU-funded project “Protective and Restorative Approaches for Children in Judicial Processes in Türkiye” (Direction for Children / Çocuklar için YÖN), the assignment will provide high-level international technical expertise to design, pilot, monitor and refine structural tools, procedural guidelines, specialized reintegration and rehabilitation programmes, and capacity-building frameworks for the Turkish child justice system.
