| The Department of Astronomy at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a position at the rank of Lecturer to begin August 16th, 2026. This is a full time nine-month, non-tenure-accruing position, renewable on a yearly basis. For full consideration, applications must be received by Dec. 17th, 2025. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or a closely related field and demonstrate teaching experience and a commitment to teaching excellence. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a full benefits package. The Department of Astronomy is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their teaching and service, to the excellence of the academic community at the University of Florida.
The successful candidate will teach a combination of introductory and upper-level courses, with a teaching load of three courses in the Fall and three courses in the Spring semester. An important goal of this position will be to support and expand experiential learning in the department curriculum at all levels. Examples of experiential learning could include, but are not limited to, telescope site visits, direct research participation, and/or development of internship programs. The University of Florida has facilities for hands-on learning, including the Campus Teaching Observatory, Rosemary Hill Observatory, instrumentation laboratories, and the HiPerGator computer cluster, among others.
