A RESEARCH TECHNICIAN POSITION in neuroscience and microbiology is available in the laboratories of Profs. James Strother and Sandra Loesgen at the University of Florida’s Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience, located in St. Augustine, Florida. The technician will be part of an ongoing collaboration at the Whitney Lab that aims to develop novel pharmaceutical leads by identifying microbial metabolites with activity in zebrafish-based assays. This individual will contribute to multiple aspects of the collaboration, including microbial natural products chemistry and zebrafish neuroscience.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in digital production techniques, visual design, and online instruction. This online course comes with pre-created asynchronous learning content, assessments, and supplemental material and requires the instructor of record to provide online facilitation, create supplemental content, grading, and feedback. This remote position requires an estimated 8-12 hours/week to support this course. This time-limited appointment is from August 16,2025, to December 31, 2025. Faculty Leader for the Alzheimer’s Disease Institute Based Program 27300000 - HA-FIXEL INSTITUTE Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)
The University of Florida and the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases seeks a talented clinician-researcher or basic researcher to lead the comprehensive Alzheimer’s, memory and dementia program. The position will include a large endowed chair, space and a generous start-up package as well as leadership of a large existing group. This position has the potential to assume the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) directorship. The Norman Fixel Institute features a new building and campus dedicated to Alzheimer’s and related conditions. The Institute has in place a fully functioning clinic that is an “all under one roof” interdisciplinary clinical-research center. The Institute campus boasts thousands of square feet available for research. The University of Florida is also home to the McKnight Brain Institute and a free standing Neuromedicine Hospital. There is a NIH funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and a fellowship training program for Alzheimer’s and behavioral neurology. Neuroscience and Neurology research are consistently ranked in the top 10 in NIH Blueridge ratings. UF is also funded by a State of Florida memory disorders center grant. The leadership position will have immediate and easy collaborative access to all of the clinicians and researchers at a top 5 ranked public university. The Institute is partners with the Center for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases and the McKnight Brain Institute and the candidate will be granted joint appointments for access to all resources. We seek a next generation leader and the appointment rank and track will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Subspecialty may be assigned based on experience.
