| The Department of Medicine is the largest department in the University of Florida’s College of Medicine with over 375 faculty, 200 residents & fellows, and a total employee count of over 1000. The annual budget is over $200 million. The department operates through 12 subspecialty divisions, each with its own division chief, faculty and staff. The associate director directly oversees clinical operations, ancillary clinical support functions, faculty affairs, and the Chair’s Office operations. This position works closely with the department’s director of health administration, director of finance (working title), department chair, vice chairs, division chiefs, faculty, and division administrators in identifying and analyzing operational problems, collecting recommendations, implementing solutions, and approving policies and procedures that ensure the department operates at the highest efficiency. This position is responsible for the development of the annual budgets for the clinics and supervision of clinic managers and staff. The Department of Medicine has 12 clinic locations throughout Gainesville and in outlying areas, which will require regular onsite engagement by the associate director. This position also interfaces regularly with UF Health clinical leadership and will be engaged in strategic planning, expansion projects, and implementation of new clinical initiatives. This position is expected to be proficient in data analytics, revenue cycle, EPIC, University of Florida business operations systems, and leading teams. As part of the academic mission, this position will lead the operations of the Chair’s Office and Faculty Affairs, interfacing with College and University offices as needed. |

The incumbent designs and maintains scalable, compliant data infrastructure and pipelines supporting integrated analysis of heterogeneous neuroscience datasets, including de-identified EHR data, neuroimaging, digital pathology, electrophysiology, and public neuroscience datasets. | The Assistant Director, Housestaff Affairs partners with the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and DIO to provide the operational and strategic management of the institutional infrastructure supporting residents and fellows across UF Health and the College of Medicine. The position directs a major operational function within the Office of Graduate Medical Education and serves as the primary institutional point of contact between the housestaff workforce, the GME office, and UF Health hospital operations.
The position is responsible for the operational management of the housestaff experience, including institutional onboarding, facilities and wellness infrastructure, hospital-funded budgets, and related programming. The role serves as the primary liaison to housestaff councils and coordinates the resolution of operational issues affecting trainees in the clinical environment. The position also serves as a point of contact for housestaff concerns, partnering with the DIO and appropriate institutional offices to triage and connect individuals to established resources.
The position formulates and implements policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives that support the housestaff workforce; participates in the strategic planning of the GME office; collaborates with UF Health, the College of Medicine, and external partners on matters affecting graduate medical education; and supports the DIO in monitoring and addressing institutional compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Institutional Requirements and Common Program Requirements as they pertain to the housestaff environment.
This is a mission-critical position that directly affects trainee retention, the quality of the clinical learning environment, and the institution's standing with ACGME. |
