The University of Florida Diabetes Institute (UFDI) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Scientist to join an interdisciplinary research environment focused on advancing the prevention, prediction, and treatment of diabetes through artificial intelligence, computational biology, and precision medicine. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and application of innovative AI and machine learning approaches that accelerate discovery across basic, translational, and clinical diabetes research. Working closely with investigators across the University of Florida, the successful candidate will integrate computational methods with large-scale molecular, imaging, and clinical datasets to identify novel therapeutic targets, improve disease prediction, and develop tools that support translational research and clinical decision-making. The successful candidate will become part of the University of Florida Diabetes Institute's growing artificial intelligence ecosystem, collaborating with investigators across medicine, engineering, public health, and computational sciences. Opportunities include participation in institute-wide initiatives involving precision medicine, AI-driven therapeutic discovery, human tissue and imaging resources, large clinical datasets, and advanced computing infrastructure, including HiPerGator.

This individual will observe pre-recorded videos of home visits and use a structured observation system to code specific behaviors of practitioners, caregivers, and children as they engage in everyday routines. This individual will also assist with data processing and quality assurance activities. This position requires strong attention to detail, consistency, and reliability, along with ongoing communication with the research team. This position is grant-funded and time-limited.
