This position is responsible for coordinating the administrative activities for The Cardiovascular Surgery and Thoracic Service lines within The University of Florida College of Medicine, which includes the main campus in Gainesville, FL and James Haley VA Hospital; as well as satellite campuses located at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, FL and Leesburg, FL. The UF Gainesville Division also collaborates with the UF Jacksonville Cardiovascular Surgery team. This position will oversee the budget for all expenses and salaries for non-faculty personnel and is responsible for paying all division expenditures including travel for 7 Cardiovascular Surgeons in Gainesville, 2 surgeons in Daytona Beach and 3 Surgeons in Leesburg, FL as well as 6 residents. The specialist works closely with the education office to facilitate the needs of the surgical residency programs including travel, books, interviews and mock exams. Responsible for ensuring attending physicians are renewed appropriately for licensure. Recommends policy for program operations and advises faculty/administrators in the division regarding interpretations, applications, and implementation of new or revised regulations, policies, and procedures. Manage personnel/payroll processes for the division, ensuring compliance with university rules and regulations. Responsibilities may require driving a vehicle to job sites.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in supervising scenic shop processes in collaboration with the faculty Technical Director, working closely with staff, students, faculty, and guest artists to realize scenic designs for theatre and dance productions. The Scene Shop Manager ensures the efficient operation of scenic production work, overseeing the installation and strike of scenery, maintaining shop tools and equipment, and managing production schedules. The scenic area supports three to five productions per semester (fall and spring), as well as one to two summer productions. Scenic production activities take place in the school’s proscenium theatre, black box theatre, a versatile dance studio that also serves as a performance space, and the scenic shop. This position reports to the Technical Director.
