| The Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program (MFOS) is an initiative to ensure first-generation students from low-income families have the resources they need to be academically successful at the University of Florida. The goal of the program is to retain these students and have them graduate at rates equal to or greater than the undergraduate population at large.
This role will primarily focus on assisting first-generation, low-income college students through various programs, including the life coach program, workshops, and first-gen advocate programs. The Student Assistant will play a crucial role in empowering these students to succeed academically, develop essential life skills, and navigate the challenges of higher education.
The Student Assistant position is a 10-hour per week appointment with occasional after-hour programs or events. This position reports to the Program Coordinator that oversees Scholarship Requirements, Career, and Academic Initiatives within the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program. Regular meetings will be held to discuss progress, strategies, and to ensure alignment with the program's goals. |
