A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in observational/computational time-domain astrophysics, including supernovae, gravitational-wave events, fast radio bursts, and tidal disruption events, to work with Dr. Daichi Hiramatsu in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Florida to begin in Fall 2026. We are launching an interdisciplinary effort to quantify how ocean waves transmit energy into coastal dunes and how that energy interacts with sediment properties, vegetation, water-table dynamics, and tides. A central goal is to integrate these observations with process-based numerical models to predict and explain morphological change of coastal dunes. The postdoc will design and deploy small seismic arrays across beach–dune transitions and integrate seismic observations with pressure/wave sensors, vegetation and morphology mapping, and UAS/drone flyovers. Initial tests will occur near St. Augustine/Matanzas Inlet (FL), with opportunities to expand to other Florida sites as the program grows.
