| Healthy Families is a nationally accredited, statewide program that is proven to prevent child abuse and neglect before it ever begins. Healthy Families was written into Florida Statute 409.153 in 1998 for the purpose of identifying, funding, supporting, and evaluating programs and community initiatives to improve the development and life outcomes of children and to preserve and strengthen families with a primary emphasis on prevention. Healthy Families provides community-based home visitation services focused on promoting child health and development and positive parent-child interaction. These services include both Parent Education & Support and Mental Health Counseling to participants who are suffering from Postpartum Depression or other Mental Health Issues. Families join the program prenatally or soon after the birth of the baby and can last three to five years, depending upon the needs of the family. |
