The University of Florida's Center for Precollegiate Education and Training (CPET) is seeking enthusiastic UF students to serve as residential counselors for our summer STEM and STEAM programs: Student Science Training Program, Research Explorations, Research Immersion in Science and Engineering, Jumpstart Biology, and Gator Labs Programs. CPET summer programs bring talented middle and high school students onto campus for first-hand research and science learning, interactions with UF scientists, researchers, and faculty, and engagement in collegiate-level experiences. Research Assistant Scientist - Quantitative Genetics 60230000 - AG-HORTICULTURAL SCIENCES Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)
The faculty member will join the Sweet Corn and Potato Breeding and Genomics Lab, conducting quantitative genetics/ genomics research applied to plant breeding. The faculty member will lead genomic selection initiatives focusing on predictive modeling for optimal selection of parents, progeny, and hybrids and germplasm management. The faculty member will also influence the adoption and integration of genomic prediction methods within our breeding processes, continuously improving training sets and early-stage processes.

Assistant Professor of Geospatial Analytics in Geomatics 60460000 - AG-SCHL FOR, FISH, & GEOMATICS Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)
Research duties include developing a collaborative, internationally recognized and externally funded research program focused on Geospatial Analytics in Geomatics, including – but not limited to – advanced Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) techniques and scaleable application architectures and algorithms for geospatial data analysis and visualization. The faculty member’s research program is expected to develop and incorporate novel algorithms and frameworks, such as deep learning, parallel and distributed computing, AI-based spatial data storage and transfer technologies, and cloud-native geospatial solutions for feature extraction, real-time autonomous navigation systems, extended reality, predictive modeling, data fusion, digital twins, high-definition mapping, and pattern recognition applied to large multi-scale and multi-modal geospatial data. Instructional duties include teaching two courses.

The successful candidate will lead through designing, implementing, and evaluating livestock education programs to assist producers more effectively in interpreting and using current science and technology. In this role, specific emphasis is on cattle, small ruminants, poultry, and equine (about 55% of the agent’s time). About 40% of your time will be devoted to pesticide education, pasture, forage, and small farm management programs.
