The Assistive Technology Accessibility Specialist increases accessibility, inclusion, and equity for UF students with disabilities. With a clear and thorough understanding of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA), the Fair Housing Act, and University policies, the Assistive Technology Accessibility Specialist works directly with disabled students to assess barriers to access, challenges, and successes, to determine reasonable accommodations. The Assistive Technology Accessibility Specialist engages in an interactive process with DRC students and reviews medical/psychological documentation to demonstrate support of accommodations. The Assistive Technology Accessibility Specialist communicates with campus partners to ensure academic accommodations are provided.
