| The Department of Astronomy at the University of Florida invites applications for a position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August 16, 2025. This is a nine-month, non-tenure-accruing position, to be renewed on a year-to-year basis, contingent on funding, for a maximum of two years. For full consideration, applications must be received by June 5, 2025. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Candidates should have demonstrated teaching experience and be committed to teaching excellence. The successful candidate will teach a combination of introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses, with an expected teaching load of two courses per semester. Experience with small telescopes is beneficial but not required.
Candidates are also expected to be engaged in research as part of this appointment and should have an ongoing research program that can be continued at the University of Florida. The successful applicant will gain access to UF's world-class research facilities and telescopes (www.astro.ufl.edu/research/telescopes), including the 10.4-m Gran Telescopio Canarias in Spain, the Dharma survey telescope in Arizona, and the MINERVA Australis exoplanet RV array. The successful applicant is encouraged to participate in and contribute to UF’s newly founded Astraeus Space Institute, which supports space-based research across many disciplines. Work will include a variety of tasks related to interior and exterior building maintenance, including carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Travel to and from worksites using a state vehicle is required.

| A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Catherine Marcinkiewcz, Ph.D. at the University of Florida starting June 1, 2025. Research in the Marcinkiewcz lab focuses on unraveling neural circuit mechanisms underlying addiction and neurodegenerative disease and using multi-level approaches that include fiber photometry, patch-clamp electrophysiology, optogenetics and chemogenetics, spatial transcriptomics, and 3D imaging. We are interested in the role of serotonin systems in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease and the intersection between AD and neuropsychiatric disorders. Highly enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals with a strong background in systems neuroscience, behavioral genetics, molecular mechanisms of disease and/or neuropharmacology are encouraged to apply. This position is in-person and is not eligible for remote work. |
